EBSCO Publishing and Lexi-Comp Expand Partnership
~Expanded Linking Capabilities and Distribution Partnership Provides Hospitals with Additional Ways to Bundle Information and Resources ~
IPSWICH, Mass. -- March 1, 2010 -- EBSCO Publishing (EBSCO) and Lexi-Comp have expanded their partnership allowing mutual customers greater access to medical content while also announcing a distribution agreement that lets EBSCO sell Lexi-Comp databases.
Linking
A formal linking partnership between the two companies, originally announced in December 2008, allowed institutions subscribing to DynaMed(TM), or other EBSCO products, to seamlessly access real-time information from their Lexi-Comp databases. The expanded deal now allows searches in Lexi-Comp resources such as Lexi-Comp(R) ONLINE(TM), to pull the content from DynaMed and EBSCO's Nursing Reference Center(TM) into Lexi-Comp results--allowing for faster access to the most current and relevant clinical information and improved clinical decision making at the point-of-care.
Being able to easily link to a clinical or nursing point-of-care resource directly from Lexi-Comp puts more information into the hands of clinicians at key points in the decision-making process. Quickly navigating from relevant drug interaction or drug formulary information into treatment options for a particular condition is critical to the clinical decision making process saving time and streamlining the process of finding the best answers to clinical questions.
Enhancing the integration between the Lexi-Comp drug reference and decision support tools with EBSCO Publishing's medical products via a formal partnership is a valuable complement to EBSCO's growing line of point-of-care resources which, in addition to DynaMed includes: Nursing Reference Center(TM), Patient Education Reference Center(TM), and Rehabilitation Reference Center(TM).
Distribution
In addition to expanding linking options, EBSCO and Lexi-Comp have agreed to a joint sales partnership, which allows EBSCO to sell the Lexi-Comp online suite of drug reference products globally. These products can also be purchased directly from Lexi-Comp.
EBSCO Publishing Vice President of Medical Market Development Stratton Lloyd says the distribution arrangement is a natural outgrowth of the linking agreement. "Having invested in deep integration between the Lexi-Comp products with DynaMed and Nursing Reference Center, distributing the Lexi-Comp Drug reference products is a natural addition to EBSCO's comprehensive suite of evidence-based resources."
